About Blaze on Urgent List!

Blaze, A2185269, neutered 5 yr. old chihuahua mix at West Valley Shelter has been added to the Urgent List!!! Blaze is a 5-year-old neutered Chihuahua mix, possibly with Miniature Pinscher, who weighs just 13 pounds. He was surrendered to the West Valley Animal Shelter on April 16, 2025, due to reported aggression toward people. Blaze has a documented bite history stemming from a situation where he went after another dog, and when his owner tried to break it up, Blaze bit him on the hand. He is a nervous little guy, likely carrying trauma from his past. Despite this, Blaze has shown promise. He's been participating in playgroups and does well with other dogs. One of our dedicated volunteers has been working closely with him for over a month, and he has already made significant progress. Blaze often hides under his bed in the kennel, but with consistency, calm handling, and the right person, we believe he can continue to blossom. He needs a rescue or experienced adopter who understands fearful dogs and can offer the time, patience, and structure he needs to feel safe.
