With heavy hearts and loving intention, we are seeking the perfect forever home for our beloved dog, lovingly known as 'Big Chops.' This is not a decision we've made lightly - but one made with deep reflection, and with only his best interests at heart. He deserves more than we are presently able to provide - more space, more support, more time, and a family whose lifestyle and capacity can fully meet his physical and emotional needs. %BD%BD%BD%BD Why We're Rehoming Him Chops is a big-hearted boy in a big, strong body - and while his spirit is gentle and loving, his physical energy and medical needs require a home and caregiver with the right environment, experience, and financial means to support him. Small apartment living has proven limiting for him, and our personal anxiety, physical disabilities, and circumstances have made it harder to help him thrive the way he truly deserves. Despite his size, he's incredibly tender - especially with small dogs, whom he loves to let climb and play all over him. He craves social connection, physical affection, and open space. His enthusiasm and love are boundless, but can be misunderstood due to his size and strength. He needs someone who sees his kind soul and has the experience to guide and nurture him safely. He is also crate trained. %BD%BD%8F%BD The Ideal Home for Chops: We're hoping to connect Chops to a forever family who: Has a secure yard or open space for safe play and freedom Has experience with larger, strong, or excitable dogs Has another dog - especially a smaller or well-socialized one - for companionship Has the financial means to support his ongoing medical care Can provide emotional strength, patience, and structure as he continues to grow and adjust %BD%BD Health & Medical Details: Chops has ongoing weight, hip, and elbow concerns. He's Diagnosed with Hip and Elbow Dysplasia Recommended procedures/surgeries: Leg Surgery is highly recommended Current medications & costs: Food - $144 with Tax/Month. Food Toppers - $24/Week. Medications - Around $190/Month. Probiotics - $37/3Weeks. He will require ongoing veterinary care and a home that can commit to meeting his physical needs with compassion and consistency. %BD%BD%90 Chops At a Glance: Name: Big Chops Breed: English Mastiff/Boxer Age: 2 Years Old Weight: Around 100Ibs Height: Around 2ft Color/Coat: Brindle, like tiger stripes Where & when we got him: Rescued from Vallejo January 2024 Personality: Loving, excitable, loyal, social, gentle with small dogs Great with: Dogs of all sizes Location: Walnut Creek %BD%8F In Search of the Right Match Chops is a loving companion with a puppy heart and a regal presence.
