About Toby

Toby is a perfect blend of Ridgeback (has a ridge) and Treeing Walker Coonhound - a hound dog with a mohawk! Intelligent, goofy, and incredibly handsome, Toby loves to train and thrives with positive reinforcement. He is an incredible adventure buddy, whether it be running, walking, hiking, or disc golf, he is up for anything! He is very well trained, both on and off leash (uses an e-collar but mostly treats), and knows a ton of commands. He is typically off-leash on walks or runs (heels nicely), does not bolt, and a favorite around the neighborhood. Toby was adopted by his current owner 3 years ago from a rough situation where he was not treated properly. He has overcome SO much in that time! With love and structure, he is now a confident, happy boy. While we have not had an issue when out and about, Toby likes his space to be respected in the home and needs a home without other dogs or children. His owner is a soon-to-be stepmom to two little boys, which is why she's had to make the heartbreaking decision to find Toby a new home. Toby is a great dog who would be perfect for an active, experienced, adults-only home. He thrives on routine and regular exercise, and loves to explore.
