URGENT: DOZER NEEDS A FOSTER, ADOPTER, OR RESCUE BY JUNE 27TH @ 4PM If no placement is found, Dozer will be euthanized. Dozer (A278539) is a 2-year-old, 60 lb, neutered Queensland Heeler/Hound mix who has been failed too many times in his short life. Originally surrendered by a family with children due to resource guarding and struggles around toddlers, he was rehomed to another family-who also returned him once they had children. Dozer has now been sitting in the shelter, stressed and overwhelmed, and has reached his deadline: he must leave by Friday, June 27th at 4:00 PM. This boy has so much potential. Dozer is housebroken, crate trained, non-destructive when inside alone, and loves car rides. He's friendly with women and has been good with men once he has time to warm up-he especially struggles with male staff and volunteers in the shelter, likely due to fear. He's done well with other dogs in the past, preferring females, and even tolerated cats (although he hasn't been around them recently in the shelter). Once he feels safe, he is incredibly sweet, cuddly, and affectionate. Unfortunately, the shelter has taken a toll on him. He's extremely anxious and shuts down from all the overwhelming noise and activity. Dozer paces, cries, and is visibly distressed-his mental health is deteriorating. He has shown signs of resource guarding in the kennel and has become fearful of men approaching him. Despite all this, he can be leashed and walked once he trusts you, and staff have seen him warm up quickly with kind handling. Dozer desperately needs a calm, experienced home: A home without children-he is not a dog who will enjoy a busy, high-energy household. A quiet home outside of the shelter where he can decompress and feel safe. A home with a calm female dog (he can be fed separately), or a home where he can be the only dog. Time is running out. Dozer doesn't need perfection-he just needs a chance. To help Dozer, come to the shelter before 4:00 PM on Friday, June 27th. If you have a dog, bring them for a meet and greet. Please share. Please foster. Please don't let Dozer's story end this way. He's been let down enough-let's not fail him again.
