About Tessa

Tessa A278574 is a 5-year-old, 55-pound, spayed American Staffordshire mix who is running out of time. She is currently on the euthanasia list and must be adopted, fostered, or rescued by 4:00 PM on June 27th, or she will lose her life simply because she is too stressed in the shelter environment. Tessa was previously placed on a time-sensitive deadline due to her severe stress in the kennel. She was lucky to find a wonderful foster home where she truly thrived. Her foster shared that she is housebroken, non-destructive inside, and very easy to live with. Tessa is well crate trained and actually enjoys her crate-she'll happily nap inside even when the door is open. She walks beautifully on leash, is loving and affectionate with volunteers and staff, and did great with the 8-year-old child in the home. Tessa is friendly with men, women, and older children, but she does not do well with toddlers. Their fast movements and unpredictable energy make her nervous and uncomfortable. While she was friendly with the resident dogs in her foster home, she did become jealous over attention. She may be able to live with other dogs after slow and careful introductions. What Tessa needs now is a calm, patient home with no toddlers and preferably with children aged 8 and up. A home outside of the shelter, where she can relax and feel secure, is crucial. She is deeply stressed in confinement, and it's clear she simply cannot cope with shelter life. If you can help Tessa, please come to the shelter before June 27th at 4:00 PM to meet her in person. If you have existing dogs or children in your home, bring them along for a meet and greet. Tessa has proven that she can thrive in the right environment-she just needs someone to give her that chance before it's too late.
