Ghost is a true gentle giant, and the sweetest boy. He was born deaf and mostly blind (can see some shadows) so he is a little nervous navigating new places, but at home he quickly maps out the space and feels confident roaming on his own. He is house trained, can wait until we get back from home to go, and he will walk to the door where we let him out and bark to indicate when he needs to go. He loves to go for walks and to the dog park - although most dogs seem to ignore him :(, and would do best in a home where either there is someone/a dog always around to give him companionship. Ghost is not a motivated eater, and it had been a challenge getting him to gain weight. I've tried changing up his food, but he will eat it for a little while and then lose interest after a few months. Aside from his deafness/blindness, Ghost has 2 other health issues - he has yeast dermitis and often gets ear infections/flaky patches on his skin, and he constantly gets foxtails in his feet (3 times we had to surgically remove them). Unfortunately, our home backs up to a field full of foxtails, so it is very difficult to avoid them, and we can't keep paying for treatment to remove them. Our vet has suggested monthly allergy shots to treat his yeast issue, but we also can't pay the cost. Our family loves him, but we can no longer give him the quality of life he really deserves. With the addition of a new baby, both my husband and I have had to work extra hours to pay for child care, and we aren't at home as much for him. We don't want to place him in a shelter, and are looking for a home or a no-kill rescue where Ghost can live out his life comfortably with lots of love and affection.
