About Scamper

Meet Scamper! Scamper is a sweet, 5.5-year-old Poodle mix who weighs just 8 pounds. This little guy has been through a lot, but he's come such a long way and is ready for a patient, loving forever home. Scamper was rescued from a shelter where he was terrified and showing signs of fear-based aggression. We don't know if he was surrendered or found as a stray, but we do know he was on the euthanasia list when we stepped in to save him. Since arriving at Misfits Dog Rescue, Scamper has shown us what a gentle, loving companion he truly is. He was briefly adopted, and while things started out well, his fear-based behaviors resurfaced when guests visited the home. When his adopter developed health issues and the house became busy with visitors, it became overwhelming for Scamper, and he returned to our care. Back with us, he's once again been the perfect gentleman-sweet, calm, and affectionate. Scamper is a true 'velcro dog' who wants nothing more than to be near his person, whether that means cuddling on the couch or following you from room to room. He also enjoys short bursts of playtime, zoomies, and playing with other friendly dogs. Scamper would thrive in a quiet home with minimal visitors and a consistent routine. He'd love a home where someone is around most of the time. While he enjoys other dogs and could benefit from a canine buddy to show him the ropes, he'd also do well as an only dog with plenty of attention and love. Experience with dog training or fear-based behavior would be a big plus. Scamper is non-shedding, neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and has a healthy, clean mouth.
