About Kismet

Kismet is a 35lb male pit bull mix who is incredibly sweet, cuddly, and playful, just very anxious and reactive with dogs and initially with strangers. He also has some resource guarding with me and his food towards other dogs but not people. He has nipped at two people, one who put their hand over the fence to say hi, and another who Kismet had never bet before who came in the home and went in our yard alone. He never broke the skin. He has attacked another smaller intact male dog in our home a few times. He hasn't had problems with the female dogs. This is the reason we need to rehome him, for the safety of the other male dog. He does board with a trainer and she has never had any issues with him and says he hasn't had any issues with the other dogs that have been there. With the right tools and environment, I know Kismet can overcome his issues and be a great dog. I love this little guy so much but I'm being forced to make a tough decision that I think will ultimately be better for him if he doesn't have to live muzzled and separated from everyone else in this home. I would like to be involved as much as possible and am even open to a trial period and to introducing Kismet to his new person and home slowly over time. I have been told he will be euthanized if taken to a shelter and I am doing everything I can to avoid that.
