[Read About Natural Incontinence Care] Dash is a 5 year old male Cavapoo. He grew up from a puppy in a loving home with a family (3 children). He has a curious, fun and playful personality and is great with children and most other animals. About 9 months ago, Dash suffered a spinal cord injury resulting from a ruptured disc that we later found out was likely due to IVDD. Dash immediately lost the use of his hind legs at the time of injury. After immediate consultation with veterinary professionals, it was determined that Dash required surgery that would give him a 50/50 chance at eventually regaining some or all of the use of his hind legs, as well as being able to urinate on his own. Dash received the surgery very quickly, which went well, and he was able to come home within a week. Dash was on cage rest and medication for a month while he recovered, and started rehabilitation (i.e. physical therapist visits, at home therapy, etc). Unfortunately, after a couple months passed it was clear that Dash was not going to regain any significant use of his hind legs and would not regain the ability to fully urinate on his own (i.e. needs bladder expression every 8-12 hours with diaper/band wearing in between). Since his injury, Dash has been cared for by his owners at home; however, due to changes in circumstances, this is unable to be maintained going forward. Dash deserves a chance for a new home that can support him. Despite his condition, he has a strong spirit and will likely thrive in a new environment. Dash is neutered and vaccinated.
