If CRISPIES feels overwhelmed and terrified she has every reason to me. Police found her and another small dog, completely abandoned. Next to Crispies was a handwritten note that said 'Bites'. The responding officer confirmed neither dog had bitten or scratched anyone, but that poor little Crispies was just growling at strangers. Imagine being only 9 lbs. and left entirely alone in the big wide world! And if that trauma wasn't enough, a week later at the shelter on the way back from time in the play yard, she started to thrash on the scary slip lead (a lot of dogs do - it's like a noose!) and she managed to break free and ran back up the staircase trying to run to freedom and find her home, only to get cornered by the ACS person who tried to grab her, and of course in her fear, she reacted. Our hearts hurt for this little one. She desperately wants to feel safe, she doesn't know why her family abandoned her and her sibling, and she just wants to go home! What Crispies needs now is an experienced small dog family who understand what it means to feel very small in a very big and scary world. A quiet, calm, low traffic home where she can decompress and open her heart again to love. Behavior toward dogs: Crispies was found with another dog but there is no info on how they behaved together CRISPIES, ID# 227790, @4 Yrs.
