About Red

I believe Red was dumped at some point. When he showed up at my home in May, he was very malnourished and covered in ticks. I have attempted to find his owners, posting him on all local missing/found animal pages, contacted the local vets, and listed him on the Petcolove site. I have been feeding him and have gotten him looking much better, wormed him, and given him a flea & tick chewable. He was very shy at first but is now very affectionate and playful. He is 'in my pocket' anytime I go outside. He does great here with all the animals, including horses, goats, other dogs (large and small), cats, kittens and free range ducks. He sticks close to the house and acts as though he was an inside dog before. He is great with my fianc̩ and I, but acts afraid of children. He doesn't show aggression or run, but the hairs on his back stood up when the grandkids tried to love on him. He just isn't used to having kids around him I don't think. He would make a great pup for a couple or a single person who has a fenced in yard he can run and play in. He loves other animals as well. The local vet quoted me $160 to get him neutered and up to date on vaccinations. The adoption fee would go towards getting that done for you before you take him home. Personally, I would love to keep him but my fianc̩ will not allow it. He is talking about taking him to the pound, which has caused more than 1 argument between us. The dogs do not last long at the pound here. Many are euthanized. Red is the sweetest boy and deserves a loving home. I have reached out to the local shelters and they are currently over run and not accepting more dogs. Please save him and give him a good life.
