We are writing with heavy hearts to surrender our beloved Rottweiler, Rambo. This has been a deeply emotional and difficult decision for our family, and we are reaching out in hopes of finding a rescue program that can offer him the specialized care and environment he now needs. About Rambo: * **Name: Rambo * **Breed: Rottweiler * **Date of Birth: March 1, 2022 * **Age: 3 years old * **Neutered: Yes * **Vaccinations: Will provide paperwork * **Microchipped: Yes * **Purchased from: Petland in June 2022 Rambo was a joyful, well-behaved puppy with a calm and loyal temperament. He was trained in basic commands and socialized from a young age. He grew up in a home with three children, two cats, and was frequently around other dogs-always showing positive, playful interactions. **Medical History & Dietary Needs:** When we first brought Rambo home, he suffered from gastrointestinal issues and giardia, which required immediate vet care in his first month. Over time, we discovered he has a chicken allergy and have maintained him on a beef-based diet ever since. Once we got his GI health under control, he thrived for quite a while. **Behavioral Shift & Current Challenges:** Unfortunately, in recent months, Rambo experienced a traumatic incident that triggered a significant behavioral shift. A mobile groomer accidentally cut into the quick of his back nail during a routine trim. Although muzzled, Rambo yelped and lunged at the groomer, and since then, he has become increasingly fearful and reactive, particularly regarding his paws and being handled. He recently started obsessively licking his paws raw, prompting a vet visit. At the vet, Rambo became highly anxious and attempted to bite both the vet and us during the exam while muzzled. The veterinarian has since told us that they will only see Rambo under full sedation going forward. At home, he now growls and snaps when we try to touch him near his feet or if he feels cornered. We are heartbroken, as this is such a change from the gentle, loving companion he once was. We believe this behavior stems from trauma, fear, and pain-not aggression by nature-but we can no longer safely meet his needs. We are willing to provide all of his belongings, food, and records to support his transition. We love him dearly and want the best for him.
