The Sweetest, Smartest Adventure Dog You'll Ever Meet Lugo is a professionally trained, affectionate, and loyal young dog looking for his perfect forever home. At just 1.5 years old and about 55 lbs, Lugo is a beautiful mix of brains, heart, and athleticism - a dog who is ready to bond deeply with his person or family. His Journey: Lugo was found as a stray and ended up in the Riverside Shelter. From there, he spent several months living and training with a professional dog trainer. He's since graduated from that program and is now in a foster home where he continues to practice all he's learned - and where he's finally learning what it's like to just be a dog in a home. Because Lugo spent time in the shelter and then many months in a kennel setting during training, he's currently decompressing, adjusting to a home environment, and learning how to settle into everyday life - and he's doing beautifully. His spirit is shining through more every day. Some Perks: - Fully crate trained - sleeps through the night and can stay in the crate during the day without issue or separation anxiety. While he can be in there all day, he'd of course much prefer being part of daily life and adventures. - Potty trained - Professionally obedience & e-collar trained - knows sit, down, stay, heel, place, recall, and more - Leash reactivity (from overexcitement) has been resolved - Free training sessions included with his trainer to help transition him to his new home (located in San Diego) - Amazing with all dogs - plays appropriately and submissively, gets along with dogs of all sizes and ages - Loves all people - sweet and gentle with adults and kids alike - Great bark - he has natural protective instincts and will alert to strangers, making him a fantastic (and loving) guard dog for someone seeking both security and companionship ? Incredibly affectionate - his biggest reward isn't treats - it's cuddles, affection, and praise His Personality: Lugo is incredibly loving and social - he wants to be near his people, snuggle up for belly rubs, and shower you with kisses. He's sweet, sensitive, and responsive to structure. While he's very trainable and eager to please, he's also high-energy and needs both physical and mental outlets to feel his best. He does have some lingering herding tendencies and alert behaviors: scooters, bikes, and loud vehicles catch his attention. His foster has been working on impulse control, and he's made excellent progress - but continued structure and awareness on walks will be important. He's not a dog you can zone out with on your phone - he needs your presence and engagement. But the bond you'll build with him in return is so worth it. His foster says: 'He's goofy and smart. He walks like he's sniffing out a crime scene - cars, sidewalks, people. It's hilarious. You have to be present with him, but when you are, he's locked in on you.' 'He LOVES affection.
