About Joey

Joey is a 13-year-old Shih Tzu with a heart as big as his soulful eyes. Weighing in at 18 pounds, he may be a senior, but he still has plenty of love to give and tail wags to share. Joey's world recently turned upside down. After his beloved owner passed away and the other moved into a nursing home, this loyal little guy found himself in need of a new place to call home. Despite the big changes, Joey remains incredibly sweet and easygoing. He just wants to be near his people - your lap, the couch beside you, or wherever you happen to be, that's Joey's happy place. He gets along well with other dogs and fits in beautifully in a calm, quiet home. His hearing isn't what it used to be, but he does hear. He responds well to gentle touch and a loves to have a human nearby. He'll never turn down a cozy cuddle or soft pet. Joey loves to go for walks and walks well on a leash. He is used to having a physically fenced yard. Joey is in good health for his age, though he's not a fan of lots of stairs, so a home with easy access and minimal steps would be ideal. His needs are simple: a soft bed, a loving human, regular grooming, and a peaceful place to spend his golden years.
