Callie is a 4-year-old, 56-pound bundle of love with the most soulful eyes and a heart full of warmth. One look into those eyes, and you'll understand why everyone who meets her falls in love. While her breed mix is a mystery, we suspect she has some Shepherd in her - but what we know for sure is that she's 100% sweetheart. Callie's journey hasn't been easy. She was found abandoned near the Bethany, MO dog pound, and while we don't know much about her past, her gentle nature tells us everything we need to know about her heart. She bonds deeply with the people she knows, both men and women, and once she trusts you, she's incredibly affectionate and loyal. She's shy at first with new people and needs a little time to feel safe - but offer her a treat (she catches them like a pro!) and a soft voice, and she'll start to blossom. Callie is especially fearful of young children, likely due to a traumatic past, so she's looking for a home without babies or small kids. She also flinches at raised voices, suggesting she may have been mistreated. Callie is the perfect mix of calm and playful. She enjoys cuddles on the couch, leisurely walks, and car rides (she's the best co-pilot!). She's house-trained, doesn't need to be kenneled when home alone, and sleeps peacefully in a dog bed near her humans at night. This sweet girl gets along beautifully with other dogs - big and small - and even cats! She'd be a wonderful addition to a multi-pet household or as your one-and-only.
