Courtesy Posting: CODE RED AT MESA (nr PHOENIX), AZ! ID #A5145527 -MARICOPA COUNTY ANIMAL CARE, EAST LOCATION- RESCUE ONLY (NHO) - NEEDS FOSTER(s) TOO - 'COOKIE 'a gorgeous, young female chow. NOW ON DEADLINE FOR 6/10 TO COMMIT OR SHE WILL LIKELY BE EUTHANIZED 6/11 AM. SHE IS 'RESCUE ONLY' BY A 'NEW HOPE PARTNER ONLY' which means she can NOT be adopted from the shelter directly, and New Hope partner must pull her out. Therefore, since rescues need a place for a dog to go, WE NEED A CHOW SAVVY FOSTER or FOSTER TO ADOPT AND OR A RESCUE TO SAVE HER IN TIME. pls contact Robin with questions or interest, as shared posts and comments may not been seen Emergency/soon to be euthanized! We are in urgent need of finding a chow savvy foster, or at least a foster familiar with similar breeds. Now named Cookie, she came in as a stray and was misunderstood as a chow. We have sweet videos of her from a volunteer though we can share, or are posting on Facebook. Despite this, we are told, 'I'm just 2 years old, a 56 lb black Chow Chow, and I don't understand why I'm here. Everything is loud, unfamiliar, and terrifying. I lie frozen against the kennel wall. When people approach, I don't bark. I don't growl. I just'| shut down. When handlers come near, my body tenses, my eyes widen, and I try to disappear into the floor. Sometimes I cry softly when they touch me, not out of aggression-but out of fear. I don't know if I'm safe here. They say I pace along the fence line when I'm in the yard, always looking for a way out. I sniff the treats they offer, then walk away. I don't want food. I want peace. I want safety. I want to be invisible until someone finally sees me. Once, I licked a handler's hand. Once, I sat down in the corner of the yard and let myself breathe for just a second. There is still a tiny flicker of trust inside me. But the longer I stay here, the dimmer it gets. Please'| I need a quiet foster, with someone patient who won't expect me to be perfect right away.' A complete list of shelter notes can be found on the portal: https://apps.pets.maricopa.gov/pri.../Details/OTI2-MTk0-ODZB We are therefore looking for chow savvy homes to foster or foster to adopt her. If you may be interested in fostering, fostering to adopt, or helping in some other way (ie., pledging for her rescue), please email: [email protected] asap at Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network who is trying to find placement asap, AND also fill out a foster application on https://azfosters.com/ so both entities can work on pairing a foster to a rescue group to help. Rescues can assist with spaying. Rescue groups may contact the shelter directly at [email protected] and by calling 602-506-7387 and providing ID.
