Over the weeks we've had Snickers he's really starting to settle in and is an ideal single dog because he's content following you around and hanging by your feet or next to you on the sofa. He still pulls on leash, but only for about half the walk until his excitement wears off. While he's still a door dasher, you can now let him know to stay before you leave, and he'll give you a sad look, but not charge the door. If he does get out, he'll just go straight for your car door and not run away. He loves a car ride! He is best to be by himself, because we're having mixed results with other dogs. We passed 3 on our walk tonight and Snickers didn't bark or overreact. Last night on our walk he was 50/50 with him reacting to half the dogs (it was mutual behavior), when that happens, I just hold him short on the leash and stop while the other dog goes by. He will make a great companion for a solo dog home. Snickers is kid friendly, both with the 4 yr old child in his foster home and the 1 yr old child in his vacation foster home. Snickers wants to be your #1 and will need to be the only dog in his forever home. He is fine passing other dogs across the street on walks but is not a dog that will be able to go to dog parks or off leash venues. We have been on walks with other dogs out on leashes or barking at fences and he shows little to no interest. All in all, we are loving having him here and he will make an incredible companion.
