URGENT: Brownie has until Friday, June 27th at 4PM to find a home, foster, or rescue. If no one steps up by then, he will be humanely euthanized. Brownie (A259418) is a 4-year-old, 65-pound neutered American Staffordshire mix who has spent far too much of his life cycling in and out of the shelter system. After being picked up again in May 2024, his previous family never came back for him, despite multiple efforts to reunite them. Now he is on a heartbreaking deadline, and if no foster, adopter, or rescue steps up by 4PM on Friday, June 27th, Brownie will be humanely euthanized. Brownie was recently given a chance in a foster home, and he showed just how wonderful he can be. He was completely house-trained with no accidents and was not destructive when left alone. He spent his days resting while his foster mom was at work, played happily with his toys, and greeted everyone he met with a wagging tail and a loving heart. He is smart, eager to learn, and enjoys training. He also did great on field trips outside of the shelter and made friends with volunteers and park rangers. However, Brownie and the resident male dog in the foster home did not get along, so he was returned. Because of this, Brownie needs a home with no male dogs. He has done well with confident and social female dogs after proper introductions. He was also good with children ages eight and older. Unfortunately, the shelter environment has taken a serious toll on Brownie's mental health. He is confined to a small concrete kennel for 23 hours a day, and the stress is causing him to deteriorate. He has started pacing, vocalizing, and biting at the kennel door-not out of aggression, but out of stress and desperation. Brownie is not a bad dog; he is a loving, energetic dog stuck in the wrong environment for far too long. Brownie deserves the chance to be part of a loving home again. If you can adopt, foster, or help connect him to a rescue, please act now. He will be euthanized on Friday, June 27th at 4PM if no home, foster, or rescue is found.
