Shalom is a 5-year-old terrier mix who weighs 30 pounds. She was picked up as a stray and ended up in an overcrowded shelter with a Brachial Plexus injury. Neighbors said she had suddenly shown up in their area and had been hopping around with her front leg dangling for over a month before Animal Control came for her. After extensive physical therapy, it became obvious that the leg was too far gone, so she underwent an amputation. Shalom was somebody's pet before she got hurt. She was already spayed and healthy, other than the damaged leg. She's housebroken, potty pad trained, knows basic commands, walks well on a leash, and is an excellent companion on car rides. She has no problem getting in and out of my truck with only 3 legs. She's quiet and doesn't make any messes. She's playful and lovable. I can't say enough about how well-behaved this girl is. She bonds quickly and has excellent recall. If she has a fault, it's that she's a velcro dog. She's starved for affection and wants so badly to be loved. She gets along well with the other dogs here, but she will push them out of the way so she can be the one you pet. She's not mean to them; she just needs someone to believe she's THE special one. She does also have some separation anxiety, but with another dog in the house, you'd hardly notice. Shalom would be a perfect fit for a retiree with a fenced yard and a doggie door who likes to sit and watch TV. She'd sit next to you all day long on the couch and be in heaven. Shalom can coexist with cats if she's closely supervised. She's not vicious or anything but she is super annoying to them and will nip at them as they jump up on things. This is one of those dogs that's so lovable and well-behaved that if we didn't already have eight in our house, she'd become a sanctuary guest. I can't say enough good things about this sweet girl. Her name was given to her at the other shelter, but we toy with her and call her several variations of it, Show-me, Lomey, Nomey, Nom Nom & even Naomi - if you're nice to her, she will answer to anything and be your best friend forever. There are a lot more photos and videos of her on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/AngelsRetreatRescue If you're interested in offering her the Happily Ever After that she so deserves, please start the process by filling out an application here: https://form.jotform.com/80595190554159 And feel free to message us if you have any questions about her. We've gotten to know her very well and would love to talk with you about her. Thanks for taking the time to read about her! Shalom.
