About Maisie

Adoption Fee: $200
Lab / Mastiff
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Hello, Please help me find a home for Maisie an F1B Mastador. I am not her original owner, but I stepped in to keep her from ending up at the county shelter. My husband & I are willing to foster her in our home as well as contact personal & veterinary references as well as meet prospective adopters to facilitate her going to a good home. Her original owner gave her to a foster but the resident dogs rejected her resulting in an untenable situation as one of her dogs did not get along with Maisie at all. When that foster could not find a suitable alternative & the original owner could not accept her back, the foster planned to take her to the local shelter a few weeks ago. My husband & I felt we had no other choice than to step in to keep Maisie from experiencing the fear of a noisy, stressful shelter which would have likely further traumatized this girl that has already been through so much. Had she gotten along with both of our two dogs - we would absolutely keep her. Unfortunately, she does not get along with one of the dogs that lives at our home. She is fine with the other canine resident, but the second dog rejected her - (same as occurred at her initial foster home) which is not a good situation for either dog. As a result we need to find a solution that is best for Maisie which brings me to your organization. I have cut & pasted the write-up that I placed on Facebook below with information about Maisie along with some pictures of her. I hope we can find this beautiful girl a nurturing, safe & permanent home. Thank you again. Laura Walsh Clarksville, Maryland 301-538-1892 Info below on Maisie for potential rescue: 'Maisie is a 13 month old female, cream Mastador: 75% English Lab, 25% English Mastiff that is being fostered. She is from a Mastador breeder & comes from show dog lines on both sides. She's strong, beautiful & currently ~ 85 - 90 pounds. Fully grown will likely be 100 -105 pounds. She is house trained, up to date on shots - but not yet spayed, has had professional obedience training & knows all basic commands. The initial need to re-home her is because she played roughly despite her training which became a safety issue for the young grandchild that lived with her original owner. She needs a kind - but assertive & experienced dog person. She tends to gravitate towards adult females & takes time to warm up to all new people. Once she is acclimated, Maisie bonds very strongly with her caregiver. She's experienced with other dogs & has reportedly done well in dog play group with similar sized dogs. Unfortunately the dogs in her foster situations did not mesh well with her due to rough play & territoriality of the other current K9 residents. Maisie is a stunning girl who needs someone willing to dedicate their time & attention to continued training & giving her the home that she deserves. Her life has been chaotic of late due to losing her original family & recent lack of stability in her life. Macie would do best in a calm home with a yard for her to run. She has amazing potential in the right environment & her previous training has provided an excellent foundation for her continued development. A perfect home would have no small children due to her strong play nature & a patient, confident owner who will help her grow into a faithful, life-long companion. At this time it is my opinion that she should not be in a home with other dogs unless it is first proven that she will be accepted by a resident pet. Otherwise, an only dog home is the best avenue for now until she is matured & more settled. Also, since she has had no experience with cats it may be best for her to be an only pet for the time being. She is free to the best home - but I would like an Adoption fee of $200. Please feel free to message me about Maisie. 301-538-1892 or [email protected]. Thank you, Laura Walsh
