Meet Roamie & her son, Trooper! These two appeared on our property on May 9th around midnight, and I feel they were 'dropped off' as no one around here recognizes them. I posted on 5 sites/apps, checked with 4 shelters, 7 rescues - no one was looking for these sweet dogs. We just recently moved to SC from NC, and have not had the time/resources to fence our property just yet. We have (4) pets inside - (3) cats and (1) small dog, that belongs to my mom - who is also living with us, as she has blood cancer. My husband and I both have full time jobs (behind a desk all day) - and caring for our existing pets, mom, house and property keep us pretty busy. These dogs have now been with us for almost a month, they have been spayed/neutered, microchipped, updated on all vaccinations and have been very well cared for under our watch. We purchased two 8x8 heavy-duty covered kennels for them, as we cannot bring them inside. We have really enjoyed their company, and if our acreage was securely fenced, we'd keep them. However, there is a heavily traveled street down beside our property and I'm concerned with letting them roam freely, concerned they will wander off and/or get injured/killed. I named mom (Roamie) as she likes to roam/explore. And her puppy (Trooper), as he fell into our pool and almost drowned - which is how we discovered them in the first place (at midnight). Mom (Roamie) looks to be an Australian Stumpy Tail Cattle dog, she is creamy/blonde in color, sweet temperment (no aggression towards us), high energy, alpha dog to her puppy for sure and has lots of energy - she wants to RUN and PLAY, so we anticipate she is 2yrs old or less. Puppy (Trooper) is yellowish in color and likely a mix of mom, and his dad might have been a Labrador. He also has the cutest little stumpy tail though! He is estimated to be around 4 months old. Roamie and Trooper wrestle with one another a lot! Trooper likes to dig and chew, I'm hoping that is mostly 'puppy' behavior and that he will outgrow it. They have no issue wearing a collar and/or a harness - but are not yet trained to properly walk on a leash. They will let you reach into their food bowl, stick your hand in/around their mouths, rub/grab their tails and feet, let you kiss/hug on them (get in their faces), wash/dry them - showing no aggression. Right now, we have to keep them in two 8x8 kennels, put together to making a 16' x 8' space. We are letting them out to run at least 4 times daily for an hour at a time (weekdays, while we are working), and as much time 'outside' as possible on the weekends. I would love to keep them together, but I know that isn't always possible. I just want them to be happy, healthy, well loved and cared for pups in a 'forever home' - as I think they have been through enough change in their short lives already. If someone has a decent sized securely fenced yard or pasture, allowing these sweet pups to roam freely (RUN and PLAY) - that would be ideal. Please reach out to me if you are interested in giving these sweet pups a great life! Thank you!
