About Bagel

Bengal
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Lynwood, WA !!! MEET THE MOST AFFECTIONATE BENGAL WE KNOW!!! Bagel is an 8-year-old Bengal cat who was collected as a stray, and ended up at the Everett Animal Shelter in late 2023 (he joined us in January 2024). We did not post him at that time because his foster fell in love with him - so that was that! Unfortunately he needs a home with no other cats. Yes we know, we never say that :-( (Just kidding). Bagel is FIV+. But he is HEALTHY. FIV+ cats can lead VERY long lives provided they are living in a calm home with minimal stressors (a home with a lot of people and other animals, as an example, wouldn't be right for him). Bagel is incredibly affectionate with people, including young children,%A0and he is even OK with dogs who have been taught to respect cats. This beautiful guy simply needs a loving and diligent caregiver who will keep him strictly indoors and provide the attention his condition requires. He would definitely thrive under the care of a loving human who is home a lot, and has prior Bengal experience. Initially when he joined us, he was suffering from what a lot of Bengals suffer from - intolerance to certain types of foods. His foster has worked diligently with him to dial that in. We've found that he does well 'novel protein' meaning protein sources that aren't your typical chicken, fish or even beef. He has really gotten solid on a diet of Ziwi lamb canned food, as well as Ziwi Mackerel and Lamb combination food. He has also seemed to have no issue eating Bison and Pork formulas. Bagel is quite energetic! He loves to play and he plays HARD when he is in the mood. Cat wands are his favorite, and when he can't do that - he does like to re-arrange the contents of the cupboards. Most of the time, during the day - he's pretty chill. But as soon as his batteries are fully re-charged, he's known to get some pretty major zoomies (randomly) in the afternoon. This guy is an OLYMPIC CUDDLER. Oh how we love the photos and videos of him engaged in an epic cuddle session. He is such a love bug! Also, Bagel is quite the conversationalist. Our foster tells us 'Bagel is so chatty! He loves to tell us all about his day, what he ate for breakfast, and what he thought about the latest drama on TV.' As far as his litter box skills - Bagel is very good about using his litter box faithfully. His foster noticed he was having a bit of an allergic skin reaction and they decided to try a different type of litter. They are trying corn based litter, hoping that will resolve this small issue. Bagel's foster intended to keep him the rest of his life, however we've determined that that's not what Bagel wants. Our foster has other cats - and he was fine with them - until he suddenly wasn't. Bagel has become extremely aggressive with them, and we know this is due to him wanting all the attention. We get it. FIV+ is a condition that can be passed to other cats through a bite, and unfortunate that there are other cats in the home that he is now targeting. FIV is NOT transferrable to humans or dogs. To learn more about the condition please read this article: https://www.alleycat.org/resources/feline-immunodeficiency-virus-fiv/ Bagel is neutered, has excellent litter box skills, has been fully vaccinated and is such a good guy.
