About Maya

It's with a lot of love and care that we're looking to rehome our sweet girl, Maya. Maya is a highly intelligent, motivated, and affectionate dog who thrives when she has a job to do. She loves/needs mental stimulation - food puzzles, games, bones, and walks (solo or with a pack) are some her favorite things. She's responsive, eager to learn, and truly wants to be of service. We rescued Maya from a shelter and have deeply enjoyed caring for her. However, we've come to realize that our lifestyle isn't compatible with the needs of a working breed. Maya deserves more time, structure, and engagement than we can offer - and we want to find someone who can give her the kind of life she truly deserves. We have invested a great deal of time and energy into her training, and working with her behaviorial issues. We feel this is not the best home for her, and our mental health is at risk. Maya's Ideal Home: We're looking for a home that can offer Maya the consistency, support, and stimulation she needs to thrive: A house with another medium-to-large dog who is calm, mature, or has a similar energy level - she learns well from other dogs. A patient, grounded individual or family with experience (or strong intuition) working with fearful dogs. Someone who can recognize that Maya may exhibit fear-based aggression in new situations and is able to respond with calm, skillful leadership. A home where she'll be engaged regularly - she loves structure, brain games, scent work, and having a 'job.' Ideally, someone familiar with working breeds and their needs for stimulation and purpose.
