We are making the best decision for Arnold, which is to find him a loving home that can meet his needs. Arnold is my moms dog. She had every intention of having him forever, but my mom is older, not in the best health, and doesn't have the energy to give Arnold what he deserves. Arnold is very loved, but I have 3 dogs and am not allowed more. She is not in a rush to rehome him, so we will wait until we find the perfect home. Here is a very transparent list of Arnolds background and traits. My mom took Arnold in as a foster from our local animal shelter. He was found emaciated with a broken femur that the shelter was not sure was repairable. Fortunately, with extensive surgery, he got to keep the leg. He had paint all over him, and was extremely skittish. He quickly fell in love with our family, and we couldn't bare the thought of him going back to the shelter once healed. My mom decided to keep him. Arnold is full of love. He wants to be held, lay on your lap, lay in bed. He is an incredible companion. However, he has a lot of quirks, and needs someone with a lot of patience. He has full access to a doggy door and goes potty outside on his own, unless it's raining. He doesn't particularly enjoy getting wet. He has a habit of stealing. He enjoys stealing any little thing left out; toys, shoes, socks, trash, and will make a stock pile of it in the yard. If you can't find it, Arnold probably already stole it. He is clever and will find a way to make it onto the table and steal your food as soon as you walk away. It's impressive, but also frustrating. He is weary of new people. Still skittish around new people, I'm assuming from not being treated well for the first couple years of his life. Once he knows you, he loves you. But it does take time for him to warm up. He has never bitten anyone, but he doesn't seem to enjoy loud and high energy children. He gets snappy around my nieces who are quite loud and scream around the house. Hed do well in a house with older children, or no children. He does great with dogs, and would love to have another dog around thats in his age range. He's extremely playful and would love to play all day with another dog pal. He's about 20 lbs. Very sturdy. He loves to go on walks, he gets the zoomies and its adorable. We estimate he is between 2-3 years old. My brother is mentally disabled, and he is extremely loving and gentle with him. He takes longer to warm up to men, but once he realizes they are not going to harm him, he is find with them. He has trauma, that's a fact. He needs kindness, patience, and love. He would benefit greatly from obedience classes, and someone who wants a pal to go on hikes and walks with. I write this all out to be as transparent as possible.
