About Rocco

Meet the Wonderful Rocco Once known as Lighting, Rocco received his new name after being adopted by a loving family. Sadly, due to unexpected health challenges within the household, Rocco was returned to our care-through no fault of his own. Rocco's story began on the streets of Texas, where he was born beneath an old trailer at an abandoned truck stop. His mother, a timid and unsocialized stray, was pregnant and on her own. Thankfully, a compassionate passerby heard the tiny cries of the newborn pups and contacted a local rescue group. Guided by the sounds of the litter, rescuers were able to safely find and bring in the scared mama and her babies. Once cleared for travel, the entire family made their way to a Virginia-based rescue. Despite a rough start and some early medical needs, Rocco has blossomed into a healthy, happy pup who's now ready to find his forever home. Rocco is a social, affectionate, and smart little guy. He has a playful nature, balanced by just a touch of shyness. With a Retriever dad and a Labrador mix mom, this sweet boy has a world of potential ahead of him. He's microchipped, dewormed, and up-to-date on all his vaccinations. Rocco is ready to fill a lucky home with love, loyalty, and lots of tail wags. P.S. It's been suggested that Rocco may have a bit of Black Mouth Cur in him. One thing's for sure-he's a charming and unique mix, through and through.
