Deacon Blue strutted into a foster home from Cedar Rapids Animal Care and Control, where he was found as a stray. Sadly, no one came to claim him-but their loss might just be your very tall gain. At just 6 months old and already 50 pounds, Deacon is still growing-physically, emotionally, and in his understanding of personal space. We're not totally sure what breeds are swirling around in his DNA cocktail, but with that stunning blue coat and his elegant (read: hilariously clumsy) build, we're going with Great Dane mixed with, oh, let's say'| giraffe. A giraffe who hasn't quite figured out how legs work yet. He is house trained, knows how to sit, lay down, and shake (yes, he's fancy like that), and is powered almost entirely by snacks. This also means he's currently pursuing a doctorate in Counter Surfing. Leave a pizza unattended and you'll learn what real regret feels like. We're working on the 'off' command-but for now, just don't turn your back on carbs. Deacon loves walks, other dogs, and most of all, his people. He is kennel trained, though not a huge fan-he'd rather be in your lap, or attempting to be, despite being built like a small horse. This guy is the trifecta: playful, cuddly, and curious. He's obsessed with squeaky toys, enjoys fetch, and thinks every day is a new chance to chase tail and make questionable choices in the name of fun. Deacon still has some growing to do (mentally and physically), so he'll need a securely fenced yard where he can gallop freely like the majestic, clumsy creature he is. His forever family should be committed to continuing his training with lots of positive reinforcement, patience, and cheese-based bribery. If you've ever wanted a blue giraffe-dog hybrid with a heart of gold and a taste for pizza, Deacon Blue is ready to move in and steal your food-and your heart. Deacon Blue is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. If you would like to meet Deacon Blue, please complete the adoption application on our website: www.furfunrescue.org.
