About Harley

Adoption Fee: $250
Rottweiler
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Harley is a 4 year old female neutered AKC registered rottweiler from TONECITY ROTTWEILERS. Unfortunately, my living circumstances have drastically changed in a matter of weeks and without warning. I no longer have the backyard space or time for Harley. She is used to a big open backyard and is crate and house trained. She's an energetic dog and requires daily exercise and training sessions as well was lots of chewing toys, treats, and especially bone so that she does not target any furniture. She is very stubborn but very smart and you will see a lot of that during training which gets more progressive as she starts to accept you as her leader over time. This will especially happen with leash walking. She knows how to walk/heel on a training rope slip lead but only listens to me on leash as her owner and no one else. She's very vigilant and loyal to her owner. She was initially a farm dog the first two years of her life with her previous owner who claimed she was great at a farm but had too many dogs so she needed to be rehomed. She adjusted to the city life these past two years and it took a lot of training to get her there. She is now people friendly in the sense that she can be surrounded by people in a public place and is friendly with people if you acknowledge them whether in public or in your own home. She is not friendly to strangers who run up to her without greeting you and try to pet her, hence why I say she is not good with kids since they have a tendency to do that. She is muzzle trained for this reason and due to not being dog friendly. Harley can be friendly with kids if they walk up and greet you first. She loves familiar toddlers/kids within a safe and familiar space (unknown about infants) and will have no problem running around and being energetic with them, but she is also not aware of how heavy she is (est. 93 lbs) when she goes on a full lick-fest and tries to lay down on the kid so supervision is always necessary. She is up to date on her shots, of which rabies will be due by around October 2025. She is not cat friendly. She is not dog friendly. Previous owner claimed she was good with dogs but in my experience she has always been overly dominant with other dogs and tries to go out of her way to get to them. I was working on her with these issues and we were making progress by being able to be in close proximity to small-medium dogs but then I got attacked by two loose leash or stray dogs while on a walk with Harley and I have not been able to make noticeable progress since. Only dog she liked before/after that was my previous neighbor's chihuahua. Harley is well-loved and though it breaks my heart to part with her, I can no longer provide for her necessities with the way our world was flipped upside down. She can pose some challenges, but it is a rewarding experience to make progress with her and I hope to find someone for her who feels the same way about her.
