About Max

Max is a 1 year old ~130lbs Great Dane that I rescued last year. When I came into his life he was a 15-pound puppy and I was living in Sacramento going through some health stuff. We had an amazing year together but I have now moved back to Yosemite National Park and need to find him a new home with outdoor space and perhaps another playmate. I work in the field and often have to do overnight surveys and Max isn't getting the attention and free space I truly believe dogs should have, so I want to find him a home that can provide him the opportunity to get outside, play with dogs and have a human that's around more often. Max is an incredibly sweet boy that always wants to cuddle, understands and learns commands well, and is good with other dogs. He walks well with a gentle leader and is great on runs but still gets incredibly excited when dogs pass by - he's getting better with humans and doesn't want to jump on them while on leash any more. He's never been aggressive but is still learning not to jump on things, so he wouldn't be a great fit for a family with small children but I imagine once he can be neutered he will calm down quite a bit. In my dream of dreams I would still love to be in Max's life - perhaps say hi to him when I pass through your town or take care of him when you go on vacation, but ultimately know that finding him the best home is more important than my sporadic visiting or caretaking.
