About Abbey

Australian Cattle Dog mix
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Meet Abbey - Your New Best Friend and Nap Buddy Abbey is the most loyal, loving companion who loves to cuddle up next to you (or on your pillow!), and will happily nap the day away by your side. Abbey does not like strangers or loud noises, but is the most loving dog to anyone she has known for more than 20 minutes. When strangers first meet her, we ask that they not pet her for 10 minutes. After that time, she is usually comfortable enough with people to relax a bit. After several meetings, Abbey is extremely loving. I'm looking for someone to take her for 6-12 months, or for a permanent home if we find the right fit. About Abbey: * Crate trained (happily naps in her crate when needed and will sleep in her crate if you prefer not to have her in your bed) * Fully house-trained * Great in the house and prefers being at home where she feels safe, but loves a yard * Trained in simple commands like sit, beg, etc. and loves to perform for treats * Loves activity but doesn't demand it (she's no longer a highly active dog now that she has matured, but she will gladly run around a yard with you) * Not a fan of leashed walks and won't demand them of you. Loves off-leash outdoor time if available, and adores sunbathing A perfect day for Abbey would be spent following you around the house, sitting by your side, and napping in whatever room you're in. She loves to be with her person but has also adapted well to being left alone during the work day. If you are looking for a dog to love you unconditionally, if your visitors are willing to respect her boundaries, and if you don't mind a Cattle Dog alert every time someone is at the door, Abbey may be the dog for you. Abbey is a loving, sweet dog who just needs the right setup to thrive. If you have experience with herding breeds or are willing to learn, and you can offer a calm, stable home, Abbey could be the perfect companion for you. Please reach out if you're interested or have questions-we're committed to finding her the best possible home.
