Nala was found extremely pregnant by a kind woman. The woman already had 10 cats and couldn't afford her and her babies. Nala had no chip and no one claimed her. She gave birth in the foster's bathroom waiting for her spay appointment. She only had one little kitten who is now adopted. She was a protective mother and adored her son. Nala loved motherhood so much that it was her entire personality while she had her kitten. We are now just getting to know her as her own unique cat. She is friendly and purrs loudly for scratches, but we believe that she has been abused. Certain movement will cause her to feel unsafe and hiss. She has never swatted or bit, just hissed to let you know that she doesn't feel comfortable and ask you to back off for a few seconds until she has a moment to catch her breath. If you do as she asks, she will happily continue the petting session when she knows she's not going to be hurt. With her foster mom, she no longer hisses, so it won't take long to build that trust. Meet the available cats and kittens at the Petco in California MD on Saturdays 10-2 and Sundays 11-3 or at the Meow Dyer Cat Cafe in Leonardtown MD. Apply online at www.feralcatrescuemd.org.
