About Emma

Introducing Emma Emma is very sweet 9 -10 month old dog. She is shy and LOVES her person/people. She is a velcro dog. Whether she is on the couch or next to you she wants to be touching her person. Her foster reports 'I have done 2 1/4 mile walks on a leash with her. I don't think she has ever been on a leash so she just stops if she gets tangled. She does not pull or chew on the leash, and seems confused by it more than anything. We walk mostly off leash and she is like glue to my side, to the point that her nose touches my hand. She comes when called but since she is skittish I would keep a tracker on her.' Emma lays quietly near her foster mom while she works at her desk. She is house trained and does not bark. She might whine in her kennel but only a little bit and she stops almost immediately. She will need a home that has a lot of patience as she is still working through her issues with transitioning over thresholds and fear of being punished (poor sweet girl) but she eats, sleeps, and stays in a kennel when her foster is gone. Emma does not load in the car yet but will stay there if you pick her up and put her in. She would do fine in a kennel for travel. At her fosters, she is always with the other dogs so it likely helps her not feel alone. She is respectful of all livestock and does well with our other dogs. Emma is starting to play with the puppy now too. We have not seen her with cats. She is a little protective of 'her person' so if we are on the couch she is like glue to you and she will growl a bit if the other dogs come over but I tell her to stop and she does. She was very sweet with the foster's 9-yr-old granddaughter but not recommended with younger children. Her foster says she has let her sleep in bed with her sometimes and once she settles down she is fine. But again is like glue to your side. Emma gets lots of exercise with her foster but if she is inside she just settles in on the couch and doesn't move. She plays with a ball and likes to chew up the stuffed toys. Emma would do best in a home with or without another dog, with patient owners that want to cuddle with her A LOT, a fenced yard or acreage. If she didn't have another dog an owner that works from home, retired, or is home most of the time would be best. She is incredibly sweet and loving. As her foster was writing this up, this Emma was next to her on the couch with her body pressed up against her snoring softly. Emma is being fostered in Camas, WA.
