About Murphy

Murphy is a 6 year old lab mix possibly purebred. The story I got was he was adopted and returned to a shelter multiple times. I have had Murphy since January 2020 and he is a very loving, high energy, and sometimes described as goofy dog. He will need a fenced yard or lots of room to run and will need some form of daily exercise such as retrieving a ball or toy or a short walk as he can become anxious if he doesn't. Some of his likes are chewing sticks, playing ball although he's only good for about 4 runs at a time, short walks,FOOD, and lots of pets and attention,sleeping with someone human or another dog. He is very food motivated and will eat ANYTHING that includes but not limited to rocks,wood, and if he gets anxious or is left alone too long or has not been properly exercised he will get into the trash but these are isolated cases when the above is not kept up with. He is crate trained but has not been crated since I have had him and he has free roam of the house while I am gone. He is housebroken and will give verbal cues when he needs to go out and they are distinctive if he needs to go #1 or #2. Some of his dislikes are baths,rain,water,gloves,boots,sleeping alone,dark. Murphy is not a dog to be left outside or tied up as he is a social dog and will need lots of daily loves and interaction with his humans. He has been an inside dog since adopted and shall remain an inside dog. Murphy is a velcro dog, which means he likes being in the same room with you at all times and even follows you to the bathroom for your 3a.m. tinkle and goes right back to bed after. He has a very gentle temperament a gentle giant, and he even knows basic commands although 'stay' only works until you get out of his sight then he will move. He does not get on furniture unless invited and will sleep on the bed if allowed but has never gotten on the couch or other furniture. Murphy is good with cats,other dogs,and loves children. He will need someone who doesn't care about clean floors or windows as he does like to lick. He will need someone who is firm but also will accept his goofiness and can tend to his energy needs.
