Ϭ Winnie (Pomona, CA)%8F We are excited to introduce you to Winnie, a charming, approximately 13-year-old neutered male Shih Tzu. Originally named Harry Winsten, Winnie has been deeply loved for most of his life. Since coming to us in March, we've seen what a mild-mannered and affectionate companion he is, always enjoying being close to those who show him care. While Winnie's previous owner noted he had a history of occasionally ingesting socks and chewing on furniture, we're happy to report he hasn't displayed any of these behaviors in his current foster home. For the past year or so with his previous owner, Winnie has been on a specific medication regimen, which includes 1 Pepcid pill in the morning and night, 1 fish oil capsule each morning, and an eye drop in his left eye twice daily for a tear production issue. He eats Hills Physician ID Special Diet canned food and also receives 1/2 pill of Galliprant in the evening for joint inflammation. Despite his age, Winnie can manage short walks outside for potty breaks and then enjoys returning indoors to rest. He does have an unusual appearance to his front legs and previously used a ramp to get onto the bed. Interestingly, Winnie had never lived with other animals before coming into our care. He has since integrated beautifully with our two dogs (a Pitbull mix and a Blue Heeler) and four rescue cats. He is also reliably housebroken, with only a few initial accidents likely due to a new environment. While we haven't directly observed him with children, his sweet and loving nature leads us to believe he would likely be good with them. Winnie is a happy, friendly, affectionate, and loyal senior who loves to relax and be a 'couch potato.' He adores receiving kisses, is very gentle, whimpers sweetly for attention, and has a healthy appetite. He gets along well with cats, dogs, men, and women, and is fully up-to-date on his vaccinations. We believe Winnie would make a wonderful companion for a calm and loving home.
