About BALOO

*LOCAL ADOPTION ONLY - Within a one hour drive to Pensacola, FL.* BALOO is a 3.5-year-old, 10.7 pound Yorkie. Owner surrendered to the rescue, he's been discovering what it means to be part of a loving home for the first time. BALOO is a little shy at first but once he warms up, he becomes the sweetest companion you could ask for. He loves to be loved on and would make a loyal lap dog once he feels secure with his person. He's not as comfortable with men as he is with women and a man in the home will need to offer him gentle encouragement. He will need time to adjust to a new home and we are looking for a patient adopter with a quiet home. BALOO is generally ok with other small dogs. We believe he'd do best with a calm dog of a similar or slightly larger size, but he can be an only dog in the right home. We do not know how he would be with cats. He should go to an adult only home. BALOO is doing well using a dog door and adjusting nicely to indoor life, though he's not fully house-trained yet. He had never lived in a home before, so he's still learning, including understanding that marking indoors isn't okay. He'll need a bit of patience and consistency as he continues to adapt, but he's making great progress. He is not leash trained and will need a home with a fenced-in yard. BALOO loves toys and can entertain himself for hours. It is not uncommon to see him stroll through the house with a toy in his mouth. At night, BALOO happily sleeps in the big bed with his foster parent, and his favorite toys! BALOO is a work in progress, but with a time, love, and patience, he will be a fabulous, loyal pet. BALOO has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, neutered, heartworm negative, has had a ProHeart 12 heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. *A Place of Hope Rescue is a foster-based rescue located in Pensacola, Florida. We do not have a physical facility for visits. To meet or adopt one of our dogs, you must first submit an adoption application for review. Please remember to check your spam folder for any communication from our team. We adopt to homes within a 1-6 hour drive to Pensacola. Puppies and dogs with pending vet appointments, and some dogs with behavioral or medical issues are only adoptable locally. We do not ship or transport our dogs.
