BDRA is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) charity that accepts no fees when helping individuals or other rescues. 100% of donations go directly to the care of the animals. If you'd like to help us continue our mission, please donate at: https://www.blinddogrescue.org/donate-1. Name: Gracie Age: 3 1/2 years, November 2021, (owner thinks on the 17th) Breed: Border Collie/Heeler Mix, 44 pounds Sex: Female (spayed) Location: Cattaraugus County, New York Owner is moving at the end of July, Gracie needs a home by then. Vet Info: Gracie is current with her vaccinations but has not had a recent heartworm test. She is spayed. She is blind. She has no other health issues though is occasionally stiff when she first gets up. Dog Info: Gracie came to the owner through a family member at 8 weeks old. Owner noticed visual problems as a puppy. Gracie generally gets around very well. Gracie was timid around new people but is much better now, she is good at adapting quickly to new people, animals and surroundings. She is not aggressive or possessive. She used to growl at the vet's office but has improved greatly. She may have to adjust to a new vet, but she will adjust. She will 'snap' at toys when she grabs for them but has never bitten anyone. Owner believes that because of her visual impairment, this is just an attempt to grab hold of the toy. Her favorite game is tug! She is currently living with three other dogs and two cats. She enjoys traveling and getting baths but does not like to be picked up - it makes her panic but she does not get aggressive. Owner describes her as an amazing girl, she loves to be pet and cuddled and will sometimes sing to music. She is generally a mellow, laid back girl but sometimes will get excited and play! Gracie sleeps in a crate at night and is crated when left alone. When the owner is home, she has free run of the home and fenced in yard. She will bark or pace around when she needs to go out. Owner is visually impaired, as well, and once in a while misses the potty cues and she might have an accident, but that rarely happens. Gracie does not like the rain or cold. Gracie responds to the commands:Come, sit, let's go potty and easy (when giving her a treat). Gracie is a sweet girl that would make a great addition to any home. She can be adopted with or without her sister, Cavey (also posted). **Owner Surrender Disclaimer: These are blind and visually impaired dogs who are living in homes, but their owners can no longer keep them.
