Three years older and still unable to find the family that was always meant to be his, poor NEWTON (now DUKE) is back at the shelter due to his family moving. His owner stated that their favorite thing about this sweet guy is 'He is very loving, huge but gentle, and his floppy ears. Duke loves watermelon and can make a toy out of anything.' This poor guy first arrived in April of 2022 after his owner passed away. He was adopted that same month and returned in September of that same year due to his family having no time for him. All this has happened to him through no fault of his own. DUKE deserves a forever family. Please help him find the family he was always meant to have. A VOLUNTEER WRITES: 'AT RISK!!! We notice Duke right away with his one antenna ear up, honing in on all the goings on of the shelter. He is a big boy, unmistakably cute with a great personality. We get him to play and zoom about the yard for a few minutes but he's much more interested in showing off his tricks and getting treats. Duke has been with us for 40 days and now is at risk for euthanasia. Duke has a history with our shelter system that dates back to 2022 when his original owner passed away. He's been adopted and returned a few times and most recently after three years in a home. In his home, he was described as social, affectionate and quiet. He allows grooming and loves car rides. He knows cues like sit, treat and paw. His guardian's favorite thing about him is that he is 'very loving, huge but gentle, and his floppy ears.' Duke loves watermelon and can make a toy out of anything. Though Duke has done well with familiar dogs in his former home, he's been conflicted in gate greets in the shelter. He does not do well with cats. Duke is available to an adult only home that can work on some basic manners and issues with hyperarousal. He is publicly adoptable and can be reserved via the EPL link in our bio or fill out the prescreener form to foster. Duke is approx 4 years old, 75 pounds and his ID is #140586.' my friends at ACC say about me: I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe. I'm ready to learn! I need a patient person who has the time to work on training with me. I love to be loved, but on my own terms! Let's brush up on some canine body language together! I would do best in a home with only adult humans. I need a home where there are no other dogs. I need a home without cats or small animals. I will need daily physical activity to keep me healthy and happy! DUKE (fka NEWTON), ID# 140586, 4 Yrs.
