About DUCK DUCK GOOSE

Lab mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

She's been sitting in a crate since her arrival in early April! Why? She's an adorable puppy, growing up in the shelter and that's clearly unacceptable. DUCK DUCK GOOSE is sitting in a cramped, lonely pop up crate in the overflow area of the Queens ACC. She was surrendered as a stray but her 'family' left glowing notes about her. And when she arrived, she was a total social butterfly, going from person to person, wiggling to beat the band and seeking attention and pets from handlers and staff. Duck Duck is a wonderful little girl and she deserves a family and a nice yard of her own to run in. She of course needs training like all puppies, and leash manners will be important to her becoming a good dog citizen. But any behaviors she is developing are clearly due to her stress, and these behaviors dissipate once a pup is in a home getting lots of exercise, attention, and structured training. Please share this amazing little lady far and wide, or if you are an experienced foster or adopter who can spring her from her 'crate' 'A good Samaritan found Duck Duck Goose on a rainy day and when our field operations staff came to get her she was so thrilled that she was being rescued she, 'appeared happy and jumped up with a soft body onto staff and allowed petting.' We've been glad to be her respite from whatever situation left her outside alone, but a shelter is only temporary so we are hoping she gets a more permanent spot soon! Just 1 year old, Duck Duck Goose is thrilled to be taken out of her crate for a walk. She's been wiggly and playful with us since her arrival almost 40 days ago, not losing her joy despite being cooped up in tight quarters in the shelter's overflow space. I find her quite easy on a leash, with some unmistakeable puppy traits: sometimes she'll excitedly jump on me or pull a bit with interest towards another dog, but she's easily refocused with treats and some baby talk. In her dog greets at the shelter, she's been soft at approach and either bouncy-playful or cautiously interested, and running into dogs hasn't been difficult to manage when walking her. In her first days at the shelter, she was leash biting, but she's now stopped leash biting (who knows, maybe she hadn't been walked on a leash before?), and so now she's publicly adoptable! Like every puppy, she needs a patient human who will find outlets for her energy and support her learning using force-free methods. She is approx. 1 year old, 46 pounds and her ID is 223948 She is at Queens ACC.'
