%9DPEANUT%9D (Grass Valley, CA) Peanut is a 7 year old, 7.5lb quiet soul and special needs dog who has been with us for some time. She came to us from Front Street when it became clear that she was likely not adoptable. Peanut has been living with one of our incredible fosters, Noel, where she's been given time, space, and quiet understanding. Peanut spends most of her time resting peacefully in the comfort of her bed or stepping outside to feel the warmth of the sun. She prefers solitude and independence. Though she lives with other dogs her size, Peanut values her space and rarely seeks out interaction. Despite her very introverted nature, Peanut's foster describes her as happy. She's a dog who finds joy in her own quiet way. Occasionally, she'll offer a kiss or seek a gentle moment of connection, but she sets the pace, and we respect that. Peanut struggles with housetraining, sometimes even using her bed. She needs an experienced approach for things like nail trims, vet care, or any hands-on interaction. If frightened or mishandled, Peanut will bite. It's not aggression, it's fear. Next week, Peanut will visit a trusted veterinarian for another evaluation. We're hopeful it will give us more insight into how we can continue to support her health and quality of life.%9D%A4%8F'%8D٩ We know dogs like Peanut rarely find adopters- but maybe you're that rare unicorn. If you have a quiet home, deep patience, and the heart to honor her boundaries, you could be her miracle. She may never be a typical companion, but for the right person, her quiet presence could be deeply rewarding. In ways she is more like a cat than a dog, asking only for safety, routine, and space to be herself. She'll always have a home with us. But if you believe in the forgotten ones, please consider applying to adopt Peanut. %9D%8Fω%9D%8F
