About Dewey

��Ϊ�٩ DEWEY!!�٩ ��Ϊ (Pomona, CA) We would like to introduce you to a very special dog. Dewey came to us from Front Street Animal Shelter in Sacramento. He was sadly owner-surrendered along with two other dogs. While the other two dogs found their forever homes quickly, Dewey was somehow overlooked. At 4 years old, Dewey is a true love bug with a lot of affection to give. We think he's a Cocker Spaniel mix and weighs just 12lbs. He adores belly rubs and loves nothing more than being near his person. He is happy to sleep in his own bed but also enjoys snuggling up with his person occasionally. We have noticed that Dewey may have a depth perception issue. He can be startled by sudden movements. We have been patiently working with him for over a year to build his trust and reassure him that he is safe. Dewey is reliably potty trained. He can be a bit vocal in the yard, but inside the house, he is generally quiet and enjoys relaxing on the couch. If he barks outside, he responds well to gentle verbal correction. He loves to spend sunny days outside, lounging on the lawn furniture and taking in the world around him. While he sometimes interacts with the other foster dogs, he is generally more independent. He gets along well with cats and usually just ignores them. Due to his initial caution around people, we are seeking a home for Dewey with no children under the age of 10. Dewey loves people; it he is just initially cautious, which we believe stems from an abusive past. Despite this, his sweet and loving personality truly shines through. Dewey needs professional ongoing grooming. He even loves to take a bath and enjoys being dried with a hairdryer on colder days! He loves going for walks and exploring the world. Dewey's ideal home would be with someone who works in or out of the home, as he doesn't seem to mind being alone and may even enjoy the quiet time.
