Meet Duke - A Big-Hearted Boy Looking for a Fresh Start Duke is a 5-year-old, 64-pound American Staffordshire mix who's neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. Since being found in a park in October 2023, Duke has come a long way-he's affectionate, smart, and full of personality. He loves cuddles, sunbathing, chasing birds, and chewing on toys or cardboard boxes. He's also a foodie, with favorites like watermelon, apple, bell pepper, and the occasional french fry. He knows many commands (sit, down, heel, stay, speak, and more) and graduated from a board & train program where he learned great leash manners and impulse control. Duke does have some medical and behavioral needs. He has allergies (both food and environmental), a repaired leg (TPLO surgery in 2024), and a congenital soft palate defect. He's reactive to motorcycles and has shown occasional redirected aggression, so he walks with a muzzle for safety. He needs an experienced, adult-only home that can provide structure and ongoing training. Despite his challenges, Duke is incredibly loving, goofy, and loyal. He bonds deeply with his people and will thrive in the right home-one that understands him and is ready to give him a second chance. If you're experienced with reactive dogs and looking for a sweet, quirky companion, Duke may be the one for you.
