My daughter and her family desperately need to rehome their beloved husky, Yoshi. See below what she wrote. YOSHI needs rehoming We are heartbroken to need to rehome Yoshi, our sweet and playful 5 year old Husky. We adopted her from Camp Companion when she was 4 months old - she had been abandoned by a breeder as 'unsellable' because she was born with a deformity - only 3 paws (4 legs, but her front right one effectively ends at her 'wrist' joint). She hops but has no trouble running, walking, playing with toys, digging, and frequently 'pegs' us with her peg-leg. She's a total HAM! She does well with children who are 5 years or older and with some dogs (she was well bonded since a puppy with our brother & sister & law's golden retriever), but does not do well on leash meeting new dogs (pulls and sometimes growls). We have a 19 month old child at home and since being pregnant and welcoming our child (we have another on the way now), we've been trying to integrate her to be comfortable with the noises and movements of a child in the home. However, her rambunctious nature is too strong, she is somewhat 'mouthy' / uses her open-mouth to grab hands, jumps and topples over our child. When we have her in an area behind a baby gate, she gets nervous when our child is playing with toys nearby and will sometimes growl. We've worked with our vet (Birch Lake Animal Hospital) and our boarding facility (AllStar Pets MN) to try and have positive reinforcement (and tons of exercise) to get her to be calm and not reactive to our toddler, but are not at a point where we are able to be successful and with another child on the way (and frequently having our baby niece in the home as well), we are at the point where Yoshi needs to be in a home with older children. She LOVES to play fetch, she is very quiet in the home, does not get on furniture, is potty trained, does not like being locked in a crate but is used to having her bed inside of a crate with the door open. She does not chew on anything besides what she knows is her toys. She is just a wonderful pup with so much love, she just wants to be with her 'pack', play, and loves to curl up next to us to get belly rubs when relaxing. She does well with us taking food / toys out of her mouth if needed but may guard her food/toys around dogs and small children. We previously had a Husky (named Hachi) who lived to 14 years old and Yoshi was fortunate to get to spend 2 years with Hachi before she passed away - they were well bonded too
