URGENT NEED OF NEW LOVING HOME 3 year old male neutered apricot standard poodle. Weighs about 45lb He is up to date on all vaccines (rabies, da2ppl, bordetella (kennel cough), on heartworm and flea/tick monthly, gets fecal check every 6 months) Eats royal cabin GI dry and canned (first food he's ever gobbled down) it has been a year long struggle to get him up to weight (came in severely emaciated at 30lb in Addisonian crisis), eat regularly, and become more confident Chronic disease - Addison's. This requires daily oral Prednisone and a monthly injection (most costly ~$180-200 depending on area) High level of separation anxiety. Needs trazodone twice daily Due to anxiety and chronic disease he sometimes regurgitates (not active vomit....just drops out of his mouth or with a cough/hack). Metoclopramide twice to three times daily helps this Does not like to travel a lot (new places make him anxious, but he comes to work with me so that has now become a routine location and no longer causes him stress). But when in a vehicle he sleeps almost the whole time. I matter how short the ride. He loves to play and run and be chased, loves to run in a yard, loves tiny tennis balls. Would do well with other dogs and cats He loves his crate, will voluntarily lay in in throughout the day. Does cry a little overnight but sleeps well in bedroom if allowed. When he meets a new person for the first time he sometimes growls (more like 'purring' sound....wondering if the person is safe) it usually just takes time and for that person to come down to his level and meet him multiple times. He sits for grooming very well Knows sit and paw My lifestyle brings me all over most weekends and he doesn't do well with that. His anxiety is too high during those times. He really is a good boy. He just needs to go to a home that loves and understands poodles He's definitely the submissive one in the pack. He does counter surf if left unsupervised. You cannot leave any food out or he will get it!
