Tulliver is a 2 year old, 37 pound, pure mystery mutt. Regretfully, Tulliver came to us from an abusive situation after being abandoned, locked in his home with multiple other animals. Initially Tulliver was emaciated, missing huge patches of fur and scared. Now after a couple months in a loving home, he has become a wonderful companion and snugglebug. His look is still changing weekly. His fur is growing out and his foster parents discuss different possible breeds regularly. Right now, we are guessing Border Collie or Australian Shepherd mix! This last month he has demonstrated some herding instincts and likes to keep 'watch' over his flock. He also has grown those adorable ear tufts! While his breed is a mystery, we can tell you that Tulliver LOVES his people and his fur sister. His two favorite things are playing in the yard with his much larger 80 pound sister or snuggling with his human family or dog sister. He loves to play chase and quickly out runs his fur sister but will happily slow down and roll in the grass or sunbathe with her when she is done running. Tulliver thinks he is a lap dog and will curl up into a little ball to snuggle on his human's laps or in bed. He is very tolerant of all the medical care and grooming he needed when he first came into rescue. He happily takes a bath or gets his nails trimmed as long as he gets to be by his people. Tulliver has gone to obedience school. He is a 'sit' professional and sits when he meets his foster parents at the door when they come home. His little butt will be wiggling all over but he knows if he sits he gets attention and love. He has an excellent recall and will come running from across the house or yard when hears his name. Tulliver struggles with 'down' as he thinks it means 'bounce' but he is working on it. He is house and crate trained, but is usually left free when his foster parents go to work. He sleeps in the bed next to his foster parents and is happy to sleep in as long as you will let him. Tulliver is the perfect dog in his foster parents home and yard, but does struggle with meeting new people and going into the world. With slow approaches and taking their time, new people can and have been introduced and become part of his 'crew.' Tulliver does very well with other dogs of any age or size. He is respectful of dogs that don't want to play but loves to play with new friends. Tulliver would do best in a quieter home without children with people who will continue to help him learn how to interact with the world. While he will take some work, the love he has to give is endless. If you are looking for a dog who will stick by your side, never get tired of cuddling and do his best to learn any trick or task you give him, Tulliver is your guy. Tulliver is crate trained and housetrained, neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested, and microchipped. He requires a physically fenced yard so he can run and play safely.
