Meet SAPPHIRE! She is a 6-year-old, 9.2 pound gorgeous Pomeranian surrendered to find a new home. SAPPHIRE is a gentle, curious girl with a timid heart and a love for her own quiet space. She currently sees her cozy puppy pen as her safe haven and prefers to spend much of her day lounging there-even with the gate open. While she's still learning the comforts of being petted or held, SAPPHIRE will follow you from room to room out of quiet curiosity, keeping a respectful distance as she observes her surroundings. This sweet girl is a work in progress, bravely adjusting to new experiences each day. She startles easily if approached too quickly or if someone stands over her, but she returns to her safe space once she has time to regroup. She's learning that human affection can be a good thing, and has made slow but meaningful progress, warming up quicker to her Foster Dad and gradually to Mom. SAPPHIRE is food-motivated and happily takes her allergy pills (Claritin for seasonal allergies) wrapped in a cheese ball. She doesn't take treats from your hand yet, but she'll happily sneak them when no one's looking. She's also started to engage in short play sessions with her foster siblings and absolutely adores their company, though she doesn't always realize her size when playing with smaller pups. She needs a home with another small dog, preferably a Pomeranian, to help her gain confidence. (She has been around Pomeranians her whole life and finds comfort in their familiarity.) At night, SAPPHIRE sleeps in her pen and has shown improvement with house training, especially with a consistent routine. She isn't leash-trained yet and will try to wiggle out of a harness, but she's learning at her own pace. A fenced yard is required. SAPPHIRE is looking for a calm, patient home that understands her need for space, structure, and gentle encouragement. With time and trust, she's sure to blossom.
