Meet BENTLEY - A Sweet Soul Seeking Patience, Time, and Love BENTLEY is a 4 year old, 9.9 pound Maltese looking for a home with a fenced yard, adult or older-child home, patience, and lots of love! He is local adoption only. BENTLEY is a beautiful boy who has been through a lot in his young life. He came into rescue completely unsocialized and terrified of people. Despite being adopted three times, he was returned. Each return was for slightly different reasons and not always his fault, but we want to be clear: if you don't have the patience, time, or commitment BENTLEY needs, he's not the dog for you. BENTLEY's best home is with a patient, calm owner-preferably female and someone experienced with shy dogs. He loves cuddles, is very interested in everything his person does, and will follow you everywhere. He is treat-motivated and responds to firm, loving boundaries. He will be best in a home with a small doggy friend and is not the kind of dog who will do well spending hours alone. BENTLEY thrives in his foster home. He's learned to trust, to play, and even do zoomies in the yard! He enjoys belly rubs, toys, and being by his person's side-he's quite the little shadow and full of silly personality. He is initially shy and nervous, especially around new people. He prefers to come to you on his terms, but once he trusts you, he's incredibly affectionate. He barks when visitors arrive, but calms down quickly. BENTLEY is a gentle player with dogs of all ages and sizes, learns routines well and takes cues from other dogs. He does well with potty training and is pee pad trained with rare accidents. He walks on a leash, but still needs practice, and enjoys car rides once settled. A fenced yard is a must. BENTLEY loves gentle baby talk and he loves being told he's a good boy! At night, he sleeps on his foster mom's chest. From his foster mom: 'Bentley has come so far. To meet or adopt one of our dogs, you must first submit an adoption application for review. Please remember to check your spam folder for any communication from our team. Unless otherwise stated, all of our dogs have been to the vet for a wellness check, are up to date on shots, are spayed/neutered, and microchipped with a lifetime registration. Dogs 1 year old and over are heartworm tested and received a year of heartworm prevention with a ProHeart 12 heartworm prevention shot. We adopt to homes within a 1-6 hour drive to Pensacola. Puppies and dogs with pending vet appointments, and some dogs with behavioral or medical issues are only adoptable locally. We do not ship or transport our dogs.
