Snoopy is very intelligent. He knew to stay outside of the kitchen while preparing food, was likely taught that at an early age. He understands 'sit,' 'lay down,' 'crate,' 'leave it,' and is working on 'off' and 'drop it'. We always use his name before a command. Snoopy's sense of hearing is very good. He will eat anything he finds including feces and garbage on a walk so the command 'leave it' is very important. On walks, I have been using a 4-point harness. Snoopy is a maverick, meaning he can get out of his harness easily. I have been able to fix it to his collar to prevent escape. Snoopy is very aware of how to use his body to get where he wants to go. He is agile like a cat. I have seen him climb a gate with vertical rails. He has escaped through our cat door twice and waited for us to come home (did not run away, just waited on the porch). He chases flies like a cat, which has been a concern as our windows are low and I considered covering them with 1/8' plexiglass to prevent accidents. In the year we have had him, Snoopy has aggressively pursued our cats, and has had 8 serious fights with our other dog Mae, partly because Mae is a resource-guarder, and also because neither dog will submit to the other. The final fight resulted in minor injuries to both (only their owner sustained injuries in the 7 other encounters, breaking up the fights before damage was done). Snoopy seems to warm up to women and children much quicker than he warms up to men. He will accept men and grown children if they respect his space. He does not like hoods or hats. Snoopy's favorite thing to do is visit the farm where he has been able to be off-leash under supervision (no other animals or humans around in a controlled space). He loves walks in the forest and gets very excited by the water, is cautiously playful near the river, and loves to chase sticks. He is very much still a puppy. Hence he will instantly destroy most dog toys or pencils or anything left within his reach and even beyond what one would think is within safe reach, SO YOU MUST SECURE ANYTHING THAT IS HARMFUL FOR HIM TO INGEST, way up and out of the way of his area. He has been sleeping in his crate at night for the last 4 months. He has been enjoying that. We do not use his crate as punishment, rather to create a safe space for him. Snoopy responds to 'Snoopy Morgan,' for some reason. He has always been Snoopy, I have added on a middle name to distinguish him. He has been eating 1 cup of Fromm-brand (various flavors) dog food soaked in water for a few minutes out of a slow feeder 2x/day (around 530 a.m. and 4 pm). He is asked to sit, lay down, and wait until told 'Snoopy, eat,' to eat.
