About Rufus

Treeing Walker Coonhound looking for a forever home. Meet Rufus. This sweet boy showed up on our property just after Christmas, emaciated and exhausted. Since then we've nursed him back to health, worked with him and trained him, and turned him into the handsome boy he is today. We're unsure about his age, but we estimate he's about 1 year old. We're reluctantly making the decision to re-home him due to two things: we have a cat that he has a strong prey reaction towards, and he's engaged in some resource guarding behaviors with our children that are causing stress in the household. Given this, Rufus' perfect home would have no children and no cats. He does great with other dogs, however! He loves trips to the dog park. Rufus also has excellent recall trained to an e-collar, making off-leash hikes in the woods stress free. Rufus loves snuggling on the couch at the end of the day. He was neutered in February, is up-to-date on his shots and flea meds, and has been chipped.
