Cat is a pretty typical Doberman Pinscher. She's wary around new people, but once you are in her circle she wants to be involved in every aspect of your life & doesn't understand the concept of personal space. She's happiest with her people, doing whatever they are including hiking, walking, playing in the hose, playing with bubbles, playing fetch with her soccer ball, & more. That being said, she also has a few hobbies of her own. She loves to work for you, whether that's obedience training or bitework on a bite pillow, she's happiest when she has a job to do & a command to complete. Her food-motivation is second to none, but toys are great motivators as well. In Cat's perfect world, she gets some exercise & work with her person, or people, every day. Cat thrives on routine & structure, & will let you know what comes next in the order of operations, especially if it includes a meal. She's fully potty trained, though will have an occasional accident if she's in a deep sleep. And Cat is also fully crate trained, goes in without protest, & settles very quickly. Cat is not a fan of moving bikes & motorcycles. I think she thinks that they are a terrifying, human-centaur creature. When she's confronted by her arch nemesis, Cat gets anxious & whines, sometimes letting out a small bark to warn her people of the impending danger. She's also nervous about meeting new people, especially men. It takes time & a gentle hand to gain her trust. Hotdogs help too. Cat has been known to guard the things most precious to her. These include her water bowl while she's drinking (resource guarded from other dogs, we're not sure about people), & her soccer ball (from someone she was not super familiar with). Overall, Cat is a pretty healthy dog. Most notably, she has been diagnosed with Von Willebrand Disease so surgeries are a bit more complicated, but other than that she's pretty unaffected. She's also had the tiniest of heart murmurs come up on vet exams, but they were so minor that the vet actually had to bring in another vet to confirm & sometimes they go completely undetected. She was spayed in February 2022 after her first heat cycle, & has had her stomach stapled at the same time to prevent bloat as well. Cat is nervous at the vet, but as long as she has her person by her face providing reassurance, she's able to make it through the exam without any issues, including the vaccines & blood draws. Cat does well around other dogs that she knows, but we've only allowed her to interact with them under supervision. We've also started introductions slowly with a pack walk before any direct interactions. Cat has also lived with a cat, & is enthusiastic with her curiosity & play bows. She does sometimes follow the cat, but does well with a verbal correction & has never indicated to me that she'd harm the cat. Cat is a GREAT dog, & has a lot of love to give. I believe her best years are ahead of her. She would do best in an active family with older children or teenagers, preferably with dog experience, who can give her the mental & physical exercise she needs, as well as protecting her boundaries when it comes to new people.
