Courtesy Posting: NORWALK (NR LOS ANGELES), CA (S CAL)- FRIENDLY, YOUNG, ADORABLE MALE CHOW 'CHEWY' IN NEED OF A LOVING, RESPONSIBLE HOME W/ BREED EXPERIENCE/PRIOR OWNERSHIP- gets along with other dogs Please help us find a loving, chow savvy home for handsome Chewy, an approximate 1.5 year old boy weighing approximately 60 lbs. His owner had a litter of pups on 11/21/23 and planned to keep Chewy from this litter. Unfortunately, Chewy's father has started attacking him at times, even after the owner had father recently neutered, and the mom spayed as well. For the safety of Chewy, the owner reached out to us for help to find Chewy a good home. The owner says, 'Chewy is a great, young, amazing Chow and I believe he has a better chance of adoption. Chewy is just full of energy and wants to be cuddled all the time. He loves to eat and play. He's still learning to walk on a leash as he becomes nervous with walking on the sidewalk. He is a big dog and loves to jump when he's excited. He does well with kids. My niece is 4 and she's outside with them all the time. No aggression has been shown. I do like to socialize him with his brother that lives down the street and also people so he's done pretty well along with the rest of his siblings.' She provided further information about Chewy, 'Friendly: with kids, other dogs, and people. Scared of being in the car, he gets super anxious. Doesn't like cats but can be around them supervised. I have two cats myself. Medical or behavior issues: Allergic to Chicken, prone to hot spots. No behavioral issues. He is an outdoor only dog but I'm sure can be trained indoors as well. He deserves all the love and attention, he's a great dog. He also needs more training as he is still a puppy at heart.' Sorry, we do not do transport to private homes unless a rescue is involved due to risks of a home or dog not working out for any reason. If you have another dog, and or a cat too, a meet and greet is recommended and slow intro. All adopters will be asked for a home check (which may be virtual), an application, a vet reference, proof of prior or current chows, and a signed adoption contract. Chewy may need to be brought current on vaccinations, and will also be required to be neutered as a condition of his adoption. There is no rehoming fee because of this, as the adopter will need to pay for this and provide proof of appointment, a deposit towards such, and neuter certificate once done.
