About Loki

Adoption Fee: $200.00
Belgian Malinois
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

I come when you call my name, I come when you whistle and when you clap your hands Likes/Loves: 'Loves' tummy rubs, Hot dogs for treats - I actually 'sing' the Armor Hot Dog song and he'll come running! Loves to go on walks! We use the Herm Sprenger Chrome Plated Steel Training Prong Collar when he goes on walks. Also when he goes out during the day. When he wears it, he is under the impression that he may be going 'somewhere' and stays close to home Plush soft blankets, Loves to play in the sprinkler and the hose (if you play with him) To Run, sniff and explore - he will DIG if he gets too bored Squeaky/crinkly and plush play toys (to tear apart), balls, plastic toys to chew To play with the towel and be dried off after being in the rain TO CHASE CARS!!! We do not live next to a busy street, still we have taught him that the street in front of our home is off limits Loves to ride in the car - make him sit and stay before allowing him to 'load up' and 'unload' Do not leave your car door open or he will jump in! %BD%81S He is focused on everything - everything zooming by! Especially cars - he thinks he can chase them while 'in' the car - he circles around and around in the back and will bark. We use a halter and leash to 'restrain' him. We have tried multiple things to break him of this behavior hoping he will lay down, relax and enjoy the ride- he started at a young age when he saw road/side barriers (guard rails) go by once. But putting a leash on him while in the car seems to help the most. Plays with other dogs - but can get a little rough. He nips at the rear (butt) of our other dogs and the collar sometimes. Our other dog lets him know when he's been too rough. Otherwise they play good Gets excited at meal time and jumps around when you bring his bowl, make him 'sit'- 'leave it' - 'eat' Wants to be a Lap Dog and sleep with you (but we usually don't let him on the furniture or on the bed - well sometimes) Will jump on the bed in the morning or nudge you to wake you up and let him out or lay next to you as you both take time to wake up together Doesn't Like: The Vet, Rattle of Newspaper, Loud sudden noises, Vacuum cleaner, Lawn mower, Yelling! Rabbits, Squirrels and Mice. He is okay with our cat but not sure about stray Cats! If he gets scared or in trouble he will dash for his bed (his safe place) or run to you for protection DOES NOT SLEEP OUTSIDE! Has his own bed at the foot of the bed Reacts and acts more with kind words and manipulation - yelling and screaming will not get results!_________________________________ More on Loki: High Energy - Needs lots of exercise, play, stimulation and challenges - including additional training -has had basic and advanced training If he wants to chew on your fingers or nip at you, I tell him to 'be nice', he usually ends up licking you. But he is very expressive with his mouth. He has been socialized and is good around people - okay with kids but I wouldn't suggest 'small' children - they run and scream and play and he can be rough sometimes when playing Familiar with walking in stores: ACE Hardware, Auto Parts, PetSmart, Tractor Supply Can be verbal at times He eats 'Farmers Dog' dog food (also home made) and ACANA kibble (found at Tractor Supply) blended together (1 cup kibble and 1 cup Farmers in the morning and 1 cup kibble and 1 cup Framers in the evening) -hopefully snacks during the day at times Knows: Sit - Sit & Stay - Stay - Shake -Lay Down (Down) - Bow - Roll Over -Come(Come Here) 'Walk With Me' on leash - Go for a walk? Go for a ride? Yum Yums, Treats, Dinner, No (that's a no no) Loki is a sweet, sensitive and YOUNG boy! He loves to sit next to you and be petted. Loves attention, what dog doesn't. He responds to kindness and gentleness, hugs and kisses! %BD%81S I have veterinarian paperwork and the contact info on his veterinarian. Has all his vaccines. Trained with Victor from K9-101 out of Richland, WA. He has his own bed, water and food dish, collar (including the Herm Sprenger Chrome Plated Steel Training Prong Collar) leash and toys HE IS NEUTERED!!! HAS CHIP!
